Biography
Originally constructed to house the IIT Research Institute (IITRI), this 20-story tower houses the university's administrative offices, as well as the headquarters of the IIT Research Institute and other Illinois Tech departments or divisions. A variety of mixed-use tenants also lease space in the tower.
The tower was designed by Schmidt, Garden, and Erikson, and constructed in 1963-64. At the time of its construction, it was known as IITRI Tower, then it was renamed IIT Tower in 2002. In 2021, the tower was renamed for Illinois Institute of Technology Board of Trustees Chairman Michael P. Galvin.
