Biography
Myron Goldsmith, 1918 - 1996, was a student of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, and a graduate (1939 and 1953) of Illinois Institute of Technology. He also studied with Pier Luigi Nervi. He later taught at IIT's College of Architecture from 1961 - 1996. Goldsmith worked in Mies' office and later at Skidmore Owings & Merrill. He is noted for his designs of bridges, tall buildings, and long-span structures.

Ludwig Mies van der Rohe was Director of the Department of Architecture at Armour Institute of Technology and Illinois Institute of Technology, 1938 - 1958. A series of events was hosted at IIT during the centennial year 1986 which marked the 100th anniversary of his birth.
