Biography

Richard Laurent graduated from the Insitite of Design at Illinois Institute of Technology with a BS in Visual Design in 1969. He worked for numerous Chicago design firms, and eventually joined Encyclopedia Britannica Educational Corporation, where he became Creative Director. Later, he worked as an editorial illustrator, animation director, and political cartoonist, including a two-year tenure as an Op-Ed cartoonist at the Chicago Sun-Times. Laurent is a painter and current teaches at Columbia College in Chicago. Laughing Matters -The Political Cartoons of Richard Laurent was published by HUMANwrites Press in 2018.
