Images, 1942-1989
Photographs of faculty members. Many of these photographs are of Jay Doblin, with and without students. Box 414, Folder 8 includes a sheet of slides compiled by Chuck Owen that represent Doblin’s work at ID, including some sketches. The slide on the top row of this page is a group shot of the faculty wearing Moholy-Nagy sweatshirts standing outside of Crown Hall from the late 1960s. Other faculty photographs were taken in the early 1980s (Box 414, Folder 3) and in the late 1980s (Box 414, Folder14). All faculty members have been identified in these group shots. Also of note are re-prints of 1940s photographs of a summer school held in Sugar Grove, Illinois where Laszlo Moholy-Nagy taught design. A photograph taken by Aaron Siskind can be found in Box 218. A book of drawings by Mies van der Rohe is also in Box 218.
