Ogden Field, 1904-1988
Pages clipped from Armour Institute and IIT publications, documenting (with text and photographs) Ogden Field, an athletic field immediately north of 33rd Street (between Dearborn and Federal Streets) that was cleared for that use in the summer of 1904 and remained dedicated to that purpose until the early 1960s when construction began on Hermann Hall. Items include: 1) Four clipped pages from the 1904 Integral, which discuss the gift of an athletic field by J. Ogden Armour. 2) One clipped page from the 1918 Cycle, showing a baseball diamond laid out on Ogden Field. 3) One clipped page from the 1920 Cycle, showing a baseball diamond laid out on Ogden Field 4) One page clipped from the 1923 Cycle, Showing "the Institute Group" (Armour Mission, Armor Institute and Machinery Hall) from Ogden Field. 5) A clipped photo from the Student Handbook of 1988-89, showing Ogden Field from the air not long before the site was used for the construction of Hermann Hall.
