Letters to Suzanne Rahn from Henry's Europe Trip, 1962-1963
Content description from Suzanne Rahn's inventory of the archive: Typical letters to Suzanne, then a college freshman. Mary spent a full year in Europe. She was alone during the first months—and during a winter of record-breaking cold—but by happy chance she met up with old friends Jeff and Claire Stewart, and spent some months traveling with them in Italy and southern France. Suzanne joined her for the following summer, and the two of them revisited many of Mary's previous destination, in addition to Switzerland (Bern for the Paul Klee museum), Amsterdam, Brussels, Edinburgh, and Scandinavia. The trip was financed by the sale of several acres of the Los Altos Hills property to the Highway Commission.
