Biographical Note
Sidney A. Guralnick, the Perlstein Distinguished Professor of Engineering at Illinois Institute of Technology, has served at IIT since 1958 in a variety of positions including Professor of Civil Engineering, Dean of the Graduate School, Executive Vice President and Provost, Member of the IIT Board of Trustees, and Director of Advanced Building Materials and Systems Center. Dr. Guralnick's research interests include reinforced concrete, structural instability and limit states design. In 1997 he received American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Illinois Section Structural Group Lifetime Achievement Award. The award recognizes his lifelong contributions to the field of structural engineering in education, research and service to the profession.
