Institutional Membership and Honors collection, 1958-1968
Collection of documents and certificates which note awards and memberships granted to Illinois Institute of Technology by various professional, business, and civic organizations. Items as follows: 1. Certificate reading "By invitation and having been duly elected by the Chamber's Board of Directors Illinois Institute of Technology is a Business Member of the Chamber of Commerce of the United States of America." 1958. 2. Certificate of membership in the Chicago Association of Commerce and Industry. Dated January 1922 in error, probably 1962. 3. Certificate from American Society for Testing and Materials presented to IIT "in recognition and appreciation of forty years of continuous membership in the Society...." In presentation folder, 1968. 4. Framed document reading "A Tribute to the Illinois Institute of Technology In recognition of the great importance of the building program of this institution to the redevelopment of the south side of Chicago and the growth and prosperity of the Chicago Metropolitan Area. From the Chicago Building Congress, October 13, 1960." The certificate is an original illuminated calligraphy done by "Beaux Arts Studios - Chicago."
