Midwest College of Engineering collection, 1967-1994
Materials from the Midwest College of Engineering (MCE) from before and after its merger with IIT in 1986. These include the following files: 1. File labeled "Alumni Affairs." Includes two alphabetical lists of MCE alumni, computer-generated in 1988. 2. Copy of comprehensive exam in mathematics, MCE, 1973 3. File of materials assembled in connection with MCE graduation ceremonies, including press releases and copies of correspondence with various venders who provided services for those ceremonies. Also present is an envelope of color prints (3" x 5") of a 1980s MCE graduation ceremony. 1974-1985. 4. File of miscellaneous manuscript materials pertaining to MCE, including a copy of the "Agreement for Acquisition and Plan of Transition" between MCE and IIT, (1986); preparations for its 20th anniversary (1987); graduating students (1988-1990); MCE's re-accreditation in 1984; and a review of its relation with IIT since the merger (1994). 5. File of materials pertaining to MCE offerings in its Department of Mechanical Engineering, 1967-73. 6. File of materials pertaining to MCE offerings in its Department of Electrical Engineering, 1976. 7. File of materials pertaining to MCE offerings in its Civil Engineering program, 1969-75. 8. File of materials pertaining to MCE offerings in its Department of Chemical Engineering, ca. 1973. 9. File of materials pertaining to MCE offerings in its Department of Humanities, 1977. 10. Abstract
In 1967 Dr. Alva C. Todd, a graduate of Illinois Institute of Technology, founded the Midwest College of Engineering (MCE) in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. In 1986, the Midwest College of Engineering merged with Illinois Institute of Technology, which led to the formation of IIT's west-suburban Rice Campus in Wheaton, Illinois. The Daniel F. and Ada L. Rice Campus of Illinois Institute of Technology in Wheaton opened for classes in 1991.
Biographical Note
