Writing Across the Curriculum records, 1993-1994
Packet of documents assembled by Linda Bergmann, Assistant Professor of English, Department of Humanities, Illinois Institute of Technology, documenting the "Writing Across the Curriculum Pilot Project," of which she evidently was the chair, 1993-94. In an enclosed June 1, 1994 memo from Bergmann to the Provost, Deans, and Department Chairs, Bergmann states that she, Mukund Acharya, and John Way had in the 1993-94 academic year "conducted an ERIF-funded pilot project designed to improve the writing of laboratory reports in required MAE lab courses (MAE 306, 307, 401, and 402). This project involved formulating a laboratory report writing manual and providing trained Writing Assistants to provide written feedback and composition tutoring for students in one section of each of these courses per semester." The packet contains agendas for project meetings, a list of project goals, copies of handouts from the Department of Humanities Writing Center, photocopies of academic articles containing writing styles appropriate for emulation by students, and photocopies of academic articles about teaching English to science students.
