Institute of Design library pamphlets, 1930-1960
The materials in this collection are pamphlet files from the Institute of Design library, being primarily printed matter in brochure or booklet format. Some tear sheets and single-page items are included. The materials are in folders by topic (e.g., typography, posters, photographers, etc.) and show former catalog numbers in some cases. The collection appears to be materials assembled by ID as examples and for research of the topics as identified by the folder titles, probably intended for use by the faculty and students of the school. While only a minimal amount of material was apparently generated by ID faculty, student, or alumni, the collection has a number of significant items and, as a whole, reveals much about the design aesthetic which was being taught by ID. Folder titles are as follows: BOX 1 Amateur Art Art education Child Art Architecture Education BOX 2 Esthetics [sic] Exhibitions Festivals Museums Art Schools - Europe BOX 3 Display Designers Packaging Photographs Photography Posters BOX 4 Product Design Bibliographies Brochures - Catalogs Color BOX 5 Typography Tools Visual Design Toys Display
