Biographical Note

Richard Nickel was an alumnus of the IIT Institute of Design (1954, MS-Photography 1957) and studied photography under Aaron Siskind and worked on Siskind's project to document the work of Louis Sullivan. Nickel died on April 13, 1972 while photographing the Chicago Stock Exchange building during its demolition when a portion of the building collapsed around him.
