Description of the Collection

Three ring-binder with handwritten class notes from lectures and outside readings for what appears to be three different courses: Physics 512 (Spring 1948), Diatomic Molecules (Fall 1948), Atomic Structure (Spring 1948). Also typescript titled "Calculations of the Spectroscopic and Physical Constants of NO [nitric oxide] and also the Thermodynamic Properties." Binder is gray fabric covered with IIT logo of the 1940s stamped in red.

Description of the Collection Lantern slides believed to have been used by Prof. John S. Thompson to teach nuclear physics at Illinois Institute of Technology prior to 1951. Most of these slides were commercially-produced, though some were assembled in Chicago and perhaps produced specifically for Thompson's classes, bearing images and graphs he had located in various published works.
