Biography

The John Crerar Library, a specialized science and mathematics library, founded in the 1890s by the will of John Crerar was located in Chicago's loop at 86 E. Randolph. It re-located to the Illinois Institute of Technology's State Street campus in 1962 in a building erected to house the Crerar and IIT's Kemper Library. The libraries maintained separate collections. IIT terminated its agreement with Crerar on December 31, 1984, and the Crerar moved to The University of Chicago.
