Files created by Howard Dearstyne concerning his professional activities and fellow architects. The collection bulks with correspondence. Journal articles and tear sheets, particularly by or about Barry Byrne are also included, as is a photograph by John Gass of a house designed by Byrne. Of particular note is Dearstyne's correspondence with (Jace) Jacques Brownson, Barry Byrne (1937-1963) and others. Sally A. Chappell's name appears frequently in Byrne materials.

Biographical Note
Howard Dearstyne was an associate professor of architecture at Illinois Institute of Technology in 1968. Barry Byrne (1883-1967) was a Chicago architect who designed Catholic churches in North America and Ireland. Jacques C. Brownson was a noted architect who taught at Illinois Institute of Technology.
