Biographical Note
IIT's western campus, initially known as IIT WEST, was established in 1986 on the College of DuPage's campus in Glen Ellyn. In 1988, the west campus was renamed the Daniel F and Ada L Rice Campus when it moved to a tract of land in Wheaton donated by the Rice Foundation. The western campus primarily served non-traditional students from the western suburbs with evening and weekend classes. In addition, the Midwest College of Engineering has been part of west campus since 1986. As of 2005, the Rice Campus serves as a satellite campus with courses for both part time graduate students and upper-level undergraduates.
