Biographical Note
The complex of buildings in the southwest quadrant of the campus of Illinois Institute of Technology (Chicago) now known as University Technology Park (name change effective ca. 2005) was originally built to house laboratories for the Armour Research Foundation of Illinois Institute of Technology (ARF), later known as IIT Research Institute (IITRI). About half of the complex, which is essentially three separate buildings with connecting hallways, was designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe.
Peter Lindsay Schaudt Landscape Architecture, Inc., the firm who had previously devised the first comprehensive campus landscape plan was hired to design the landscape architecture for the new IITRI Plaza on 35th street and the land surrounding the new University Technology Park.
