Monograph titled "LLP: A Personal and Idiosyncratic History of the Humanities at IIT by Henry Knepler"; Chicago, 1988. LLP stands for "Language, Literature and Philosophy," an earlier title of the humanities department at Illinois Institute of Technology, now known as the Lewis Department of Humanities. The account is a personal commentary which recounts and frequently analyses the workings of the department from the mid-1940s to mid-1970s.

Biographical Note
Henry W. Knepler (1922-1999) was a professor of English (1947-1989) and chair of the humanities department at Illinois Institute of Technology. He was the author, co-author, or translator of several books, including A Range of Writing, The Gilded Stage, The Years of the Great International Actresses, Crossing Cultures: Readings for Composition, Man About Paris: The Confessions of Arsene Houssaye, and What is the Play?

This is the only recorded history of the humanities department which grew out of the program taught at Lewis Institute prior to the merger of Lewis and Armour Institutes. The IIT Archives' copy is the only known copy in the library. Privately published as limited run edition; treat as unique manuscript material.
