School of Architecture photographs, 1941-1943
Black and white photographic negatives with contact sheets showing classroom scenes and social gatherings featuring Illinois Institute of Technology architecture students and faculty, circa 1942. Ludwig Mies van der Rohe can be seen among the students. There are also several shots from the 3300 block of south Federal Street, and one image shows a wall calendar in the background from May 1942. As a note, Mies was awarded a patent on May 19, 1942.

George J. Borre, Jr. (1921-2002) received a B.S. in Architecture from Illinois Institute of Technology circa February 1943.

Provenance
These negatives and contact prints were found in a file folder with other Mies images by Justine Jentes, Director of the Mies van der Rohe Society, in her office in November 2008 and forwarded to the Illinois Institute of Technology archives for separate processing. The images were presumably given to the Mies Society by George J. Borre, Jr. (B.S. Architecture), the negatives were found in an envelope bearing Borre's name, IIT class of Feb. 1943, and his home address in Scottsdale, AZ.
