John P. Makielski papers, 1940-1950
Various printed materials from John Makielski, who served as Assistant to John Rettaliata and as Registrar. The materials relate to the development of the Illinois Institute of Technology campus including booklets, reprints, photographs, and campus plan images documenting concepts of an emerging campus.
John R. Bowman typeface, 1960
Three printed copies/sheets of the alphabet in capital letters, followed by punctuation marks and the numbers 0 through 9; all done in a Copper Plate Typeface that was customized by John R. Bowman. Bowman developed this typeface in the early 1960s for use in the Federal Center, designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, in downtown Chicago. The font subsequently became the one used by Mies' architectural office.
