This collection includes drawings, plans, blueprints, and other materials stored in the East Map Case. These materials are not all from the same source, nor are they a coherent collection by any factor other than that they are all stored together. See folder listings for an inventory of the items in this collection.

Description of the Collection The bulk of the collection consists of real estate materials and IRS filings. Real estate materials concern mortgages held as investments by Armour and Lewis Institutes and Lewis campus properties with values and maintenance expenses, ca 1938. Includes a Plat map of Lewis campus showing buildings and vacant lots, as well as notes, correspondence, insurance values, and legal descriptions of State St. area properties acquired in 1940s. Description of the Collection Glass slides apparently used in two early presentations about IIT. Slides were found in a drawer with two empty slide boxes labeled as follows: 1) Complete set used for UET presentation; 2) Used 6-4-40 Alumni Banquet. Images include photographs and drawings of Mies-designed buildings on IIT campus (probably taken by Hedrich-Blessing), aerial photographs and diagrams of campus and surrounding Bronzeville neighborhood, graphs & charts with statistical information regarding...
