Description of the Collection

Blueprint Sheet (31" x 47") by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill of first floor (i.e., upper level) plan of The John Crerar Library (later the Paul V. Galvin Library). Job number 5763; drawing number A-2. Scale 1/8" = 1'-0".

Scope and Contents

This building was designed by Henry Ives Cobb, though drawing is not so marked. The drawings include the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th floors as well as the Basement and Mezzanine.

Description of the Collection Blueprints produced by the Browne-Morse Company of Muskegon, Michigan (outfitters of buildings with laboratory furniture and equipment of their own manufacture and design) of proposed work for the Life Sciences Building at the Illinois Institute of Technology (under dates September 16 through December 29 of 1965). Drawings bear numbers 61634 through 61803 (with some numbers covering multiple sheets), for 179 sheets total. The drawings include not only floor plans from the Life Sciences...

Description of the Collection

Blueprint drawings for the McCormick Tribune Campus Center at Illinois Institute of Technology (Chicago), including “the [Exelon] tube” through which The L (CTA train) will run. Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA; Rotterdam, Holland), Rem Koolhaas architect, and Holabird & Root LLP (Chicago), architect and engineers. This set of drawings is the 100% Design Development drawings dated Dec. 10, 1999 and Feb. 18, 2000.

Scope and Contents

This plat map of Block 4 in Ashland's 2nd Addition is bounded by Winchester, Monroe, Robey, and Madison Streets. The map is marked "Shaded portion indicates proposed structure," and it is stamped: "Building Dept. City of Chicago Approved May [illeg.]." The proposed structure is probably the Engineering Building, built in 1903.

Scope and Contents

"Track 4" is marked "Lewis Institute" with the 1951 W. Madison St. address. The two maps included here are identical, save for "Mr. Mowat, West 0791" marked on copy 2.
