Description of the Collection

Collection represents the majority of work created by David Anderson while a student at the Institute of Design, circa 1959-1963. A small amount of the material, primarily series 2 and series 53, represent professional work and work by other designers.

Scope and Contents

Records from the Institute of Design, Illinois Institute of Technology, from the period when Patrick Whitney was Dean. The collection consists almost entirely of student work--almost all of which (in turn) is from course ID 592, Research and Documentation Projects. The remainder of the collection consists of syllabi for ID courses amd miscellaneous administrative files.

Abstract This collection is one of three primary collections which document the activities of Institute of Design, IIT's School of Design. The three collections represents official records of the school created and saved as administrative records of the school. The three collections are Acc. No. 1998.031, Acc. Materials concerning the Institute of Design collected by James S. Montague during his tenure as a faculty member and director of the school. The collection includes special publications, historical items, documents and communications, and mainly printed ephemera and publications by the Institute of Design.

Description of the Collection Materials collected by Mary Jane King related to her academic tenure as a student at the Institute of Design, circa 1948. Includes a small amount of correspondence from the school, artwork from Norman Laliberte, and three paperback books.It also includes typed and handwritten class notes on abstract art and lectures by R.
