The collection consists of two unrelated audio recordings and two documents as follows: 1) A recording of the Mies Memorial program held in S. R. Crown Hall on Oct. 25, 1969 following the death of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe on Aug. 16, 1969. The recording includes solo cello performances by Janos Starker and remarks by James Johnson Sweeney. Materials detailing the "Tutorial Unit" as a system for architectural education at Illinois Institute of Technology; proposed in 1990 by Gene R. Summers, Dean of the College of Architecture. Arthur S. Takeuchi, Meton Ramos Gadelha, and Benjamin Erskine Nicholson are identified in connection with units 1, 2 and 3 respectively. Their resumes are included.
