Biographical / Historical

Swedlund earned his undergraduate (1958) and graduate (1961) degrees in photography from the Institute of Design (ID) at the Illinois Institute of Technology, where he studied with Harry Callahan and Aaron Siskind. A dedicated instructor, Swedlund taught photography at ID in 1969-1971 and then at Southern Illinois University from 1971 until his retirement in 2000.
