James Prestini collection, 1950-2004

1 steel sculpture, custom made wooden pedestal and accompanying manuscript and print materials. The manuscript and print materials were evidently collected by Bonnie Blake-Drucker, a fine art photographer (including some items mailed directly to her by Prestini). Present are three photocopies of press coverage of Prestini, 1991-1993 (including his obituary); an envelope postmarked January 13, 1992, mailed by Prestini to Blake-Drucker (containing notices of various exhibits featuring his work in 1991); and three publications featuring Prestini’s work (Everyday Art Quarterly, no. 14, Summer 1950; exhibit catalog for “James Prestini: Sculpture from Structure Steel Elements,” San Francisco Museum of Art, 1969; and exhibit catalog for “James Prestini Steel Constructions,” Wright Gallery, Chicago, 2004).

Sculpture shows some wear/scratches in places, pedestal appears to be in good condition, paper materials vary but are generally in acceptable condition.

Physical Location

Construction No. 364 and the wooden pedestal are on long-term loan to the Institute of Design and are on display at the Kaplan Institute.

Sculpture shows some wear/scratches in places, pedestal appears to be in good condition, paper materials vary but are generally in acceptable condition.
