Biographical Note
A major redesign of the IIT campus landscape was undertaken ca. 1996 as part of the master plan proposed by IIT trustee Dirk Lohan. Peter Lindsay Schaudt Landscape Architecture, Inc., in collaboration with Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates, was contracted to do the work which, in its first stages, included creating a terraced field to the north of Crown Hall and forestation of areas along State St. and 33rd St. as they run through the campus. The Galvin Pritzker Grove at the SW corner of State and 33rd Streets was added to the project in early 2003, and an "Alumni Walkway" was enhanced this in 2004. Landscaping around State Street Village (student housing) was completed in 2003.
