Essay (4 pp.), "The Tale of the 'Lucky 60,'" describing an Illinois Institute of Technology program of the early 1940s in which sixty bright high school juniors were taught the rudiments of a high school senior's education in two months, after which the students were enrolled as freshmen at Illinois Institute of Technology in the following fall.

Biographical Note
George A. O'Brien entered Illinois Institute of Technology in 1942 in the experimental early admission program. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1943 and later returned to IIT to finish his academic program receiving an B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 1949.
