Biographical / Historical
The Marketing and Communication department made original and acquired copies of film segments highlighting activities and programs at IIT. Aqua Hawk is a film about Illinois Tech's 1977 entry in The Concrete Canoe contest, a recurring challenge to design a functional canoe from concrete held on college campus across the country. The Leading Edge promoted the business program now known as IIT’s Stuart School of Business. The program was established in 1969 by a gift from the estate of Harold Leonard Stuart, a graduate of Lewis Institute and a Chicago financier; originally named the Harold Leonard Stuart School of Management and Finance, it replaced the Dept. of Business and Economics in the IIT College of Liberal Arts. The Chicago Tonight segment was a program with John Calloway broadcast April 29, 1986 on WTTW-TV as part of the celebrations honoring the 100th anniversary of birth of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. The film 100 Years of Educational Excellence: An Oral History was produced in 1988 by Ralph L. Brill and edited by Mike Inglesh for the centennial of the founding of the Chicago College of Law at Lake Forest University-- later Chicago-Kent College of Law.
