Buildings and Grounds collection, 1937-1956
Collection includes "File # 204" (probably refers to account number), which consists of financial documents relating to landscaping of "A.P.D. Building" (Architecture, Planning and Design, i.e., S. R. Crown Hall). Bulks with purchase requisitions and work orders. Also some bid and work correspondence, including memo signed by Alfred Caldwell.
Other materials (probably not originally part of File #204) are photos of campus plans. Included are reproductions of drawings of Alfred S. Alschuler's (ca 1937) design and other unsigned plans and models, presumably of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe's plans. Also, three plat maps marked up to show properties owed or to be acquired by IIT. Folder listing as follows: 1) Landscaping materials. 2.1) Alschuler sketch-perspective, ca. 1937. 2.2) Alschuler sketch-bird's eye, ca 1937. 2.3) Model by unidentified designer; Williams & Meyer photo; n.d. 2.4) Model by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill(?); Hedrich-Blessing photo; 1946. 2.5) Same as above from different angle. 2.6) Campus plan; 2-D bird's eye view; labeled "Technology Center" with buildings numbered and identified. 2.7) Variation of above item. 2.8) Plat map showing T-shaped campus, pre-9/22/1939. 2.9) Same as above, with revisions dated 9/22/1939 and 5/27/1940. 2.10) Same as above, dated 6/1/1940.
